Probably does not want to lose another season sitting behind Bassey.

WKU really churns through players. This is the 6th transfer this offseason, and Stansbury has had somewhere around 15 players total leave early since he took over 3 years ago.

There are definitely a lot of people in his ear about him needing to play more and with Bassey coming back it would have been more of the same

Per the images below, it looks like he took an official visit to TAMU over the weekend with his parents.

You've really got to hand it to Coach Jamie McNeilly for hustling so much. He literally just got back from Costa Rica and is hosting a recruit almost immediately upon touching down. I love that the staff is trying to get some additional depth in the front court because we've only got Josh Nebo for one more season...

It's funny how this stuff works. This guy was a 0 star recruit with only a couple of offers out of HS and no big programs went after him just a year ago. He goes to WKU for one year where he sits on the bench and basically does nothing at all. His stats were almost identical to John Walker vs much worse competition. And we let JW walk. And now all of the sudden every team in the SEC with an open scholarship wants Smith.
