Meh, this team will win a couple of games and we'll wonder how it happened. We look more often than not a collection of players rather than a team.

Mean time, Avery Johnson with the win today over UK, moves to 12-10 v. top 25. Alabama lost previous 20+ versus top 25 before he was hired. He could easily been ours after year 3 of BK... Can only imagine how well he would have done with that group of studs.

It's not fair to Sumlin to compare him to BK. There was an outside market for Sumlin days after he was fired. No other program would touch BK with a ten foot pole, yet we hold on to him with no end in sight.zooguy96 said:

Well, still, same idea. Held onto a poor coach for too long. There is a higher tolerance for it in BB, cause as a university, we are largely apathetic about it.
Agree with that. The BK situation is just far more egregious. Even my wife (UMich grad), who is not really in to basketball, laughs about A&M still having BK as coach. It is a joke.

And given his health issues, I doubt if BK is ever a head coach again.
The good news is his son wasn't there to roll in with 3 career three pointers which he then doubled in a single game at Reed or it could have been even worse.Cedar09 said:

There is plenty to distinguish
But there are also plenty of similarities, the most glaring of which is the university protecting the coach, at the behest of boosters, and to the detriment of the program
I would argue that in some ways, Sumlins was more egregious due to the lump sum buyout
Not only was that unprecedented, that was malpractice, IMO, and the work of somebody not keeping the best interest of the University at the forefront
The worst of all of this is that bk. Has destroyed this program to the point that very few aggies even give a **** about it. Not watched a game yet this year and not planning on it. BK.single handedly ruined this program. I have said this for 5 years. If the AD doesn't care then I guess there is nothing to be done
