A few highlights:

This was UNC's sixth loss of 20 or more points in the NCAA tournament all-time.
The loss is UNC's worst of the season. The Tar Heels had 0 blocks (Texas A&M had eight) and trailed by 24 at one point.
This was UNC's first loss since 2014 in the second game of the NCAA tournament. That year, the Tar Heels lost to Iowa State, 85-83.
Before Sunday's game, UNC was 34-1 in NCAA tournament games all-time in the state of North Carolina, and 12-0 in Charlotte. The lone loss came to Penn in Raleigh in 1979.

It wasn't mentioned, but this was the worst loss for Roy Williams in the tournament.

Very impressive...or disappointing, depending on your perspective.

This game could have just as easily been a 30 point blowout.

This also begs the question, how does a team get to play 36 NCAA tournament games in their home state?

Pretty much.

The state of North Carolina is like college basketball mecca with UNC, Duke, and even NC State and Wake Forest.

In 1980, Texas A&M played all three tournament games (as a 6 seed) in its home state - 2 games in Denton, 1 in Houston.

I have to say that was one of the most dominant games the Ags played this year. Solid rebounding, defense and passing! It was fun to watch and the tar heels were shocked. Gig'em Ags!

Texas and California basically host every year, Texas' host sites tend to be regionals and Final Fours, but there's still basically a site in Texas pretty much every year.

It's all about filling up arenas and it's almost guaranteed a North Carolina site will do that

Why not? In addition to being the epicenter of college basketball, North Carolina was for many years (and may still be) the only state with three 20,000+ arenas (Greensboro, Chapel Hill, Charlotte). Raleigh holds 19,700.
