Actually, the reason that the NCAA exists is because schools banded together. No school is forced to be a member.

Once the NBA gets rid of the 'one and done' rule (which is going to happen), then these kinds of things will mostly go away. The upper tier talent can simply go straight to the pros if they want (which a kid like Wiseman would have certainly done).

IMO it is much more on the shoulders of the NBA to make a change that will help eliminate situations like this, not so much the NCAA.

And whatever governing body is going to have to still make choices on eligibility, renumeration to players (limits on pay won't hold up unless there is some players union), and distribution of resources.

I'm all for the top 48-80 schools pulling out of the NCAA, but presidents still will be the governing authority.

Exactly. The NCAA is the schools. NCAA rules are written by the schools. If the schools don't like something, they can change it.

It's best to chase off the number 1 nba draft pick over 10k that didn't go to him. The college game is doing so well. The NCAA is a joke.
