Holy crap though, the 17% thing. Hard to imagine that 5 games into the season we have a more shocking stat than Robert Williams 3pt totals from the last 2 yrs.

He went 3/9 last night and it raised his "3s made" percentage by like 6 points. He's a terrible distance shooter. He was terrible for most of last year, but had a 7-8 game hot streak and now Kennedy has given him a Stephen Curry-level green light.

Kennedy seriously should have benched Starks for the rest of the night after that half court 3 attempt to open the season. That's how you take control of a team and nip in the bud the sort of crap shot selection we're watching now. But Kennedy knows less about offense than I do, and I have no idea what I'm talking about.

It's time to write a $3.5M check.

One of the dumbest contracts ever written. If this was corporate America heads would roll for such inept capital stewardship.

Whenever you get totally screwed over in a unconscionable contract you write a check cut bait and move on! It's time!

These are figures from 2015-2016 academic year. The claimed profit then was 380K for men's basketball on revenue of 9.2 million. It will take a commitment to justify the buyout. The commitment necessarily has to fully embrace a move to building a truly effective outreach campaign to the local community and current students with a goal of an enduring revenue stream to justify the buyout spend including assistant coaches.

If it's happening, it won't take anywhere close to that long.

Greg thanks for this report. The 61 page financials at the link you provided is truly eye opening. Most posters don't know the real numbers. They would know more if they read that report. But sadly most can't handle 61 pages.

The school can't wait until May 15th as all of the "hot" candidates will be gone. If we were to decide to make a change after this season, we would likely find out shortly after we are knocked out of the conference tournament. Another popular time when schools make decisions is the first weekend of the NCAA tournament, as the decision gets lost in the news due to the excitement during the first weekend.

A few years ago we got screwed when Mark Turgeon left for Maryland. Gary Williams made his retirement announcement in early May and once Turgeon made the move a few days later, we were left with a limited pool of mid-major coaches to choose from. Honesty, a coach with Gary Williams experience should have known better and announced his retirement as soon as his season ended. He had to know that the school from which Maryland pulled their coach would be screwed.

Billy Kennedy's buyout is a bit less than what Ole Miss paid to Andy Kennedy last season when he was pushed out.

LSU paid Johnny Jones about $1 million buyout and Georgia paid Mark Fox about a $1.2 million buyout.
