I think he's arguing a highball is a mixed drink, not really a cocktail. Rule of 3 for cocktails, so technically OP asked a trick question.

By far, the most annoying thing on this board is arguing over terminology.

A rusty nail.

Drambuie + scotch + 1 large ice cube.

Dark n Stormy, Moscow Mules are both great answers as long as you reclassify "lime juice" as a garnish and not an ingredient.

My favorite 2 ingredient drink would probably be a Gibson. Gin, dry vermouth, cocktail onion garnish, and that's it. Delicious.

I can't believe I forgot about this one. They are an acquired taste, as they smell like a stale ashtray and despair. But I do enjoy them on occasion.

Deep Eddy Ruby Red vodka with some Topo Chico and lime is pretty damn good.
This is my favorite summer drink. I had to do a double-take to see if that was me that posted it.

Other go-to 2 ingredient drinks -- Manhattan and Old Fashioned.

Also a big dark and stormy fan, but I make mine a "border storm" with habanero tincture added.

I love when I have an abundance of peppers from the garden. Grab a super cheap bottle of vodka and some jars and in a few weeks you've got different spicy flavors to add to any drink.

A spaghett.

Miller Highlife, Aperol, and garnish with a lemon wedge.

Just pour the Aperol directly into the bottle and toss the lemon wedge on.
