I rarely hear other people recommend it, but my brother and I both love The Rum House on Magazine St. Amazing Caribbean style tacos.
that's a good spot, tasty food for sure. not far from the Bulldog which is a good bar with pretty good food, too.

I always liked the Gumbo Shop and Felix's Oyster bar

Also, get a Lucky Dog from one of those carts

I'm a hot dog connoisseur - I typically celebrate them in all in all of their glory. Therefore I have lower standards than most.

My wife knows when I've lowered my standards enough to saddle up to a Lucky Dog stand it is time to take me drunk, I'm home. The countdown is on until I forget the rest of the night.

Take the trash out staff.

Just looked that place up. I told my wife to pack the bags, I'll gas up the car, we can be in NOLA in time for dinner.

They had one in college station behind north gate but they closed citing the pandemic and horrific parking infrastructure. It wasn't as good as the ones in NOLA, but it was still very good.

If you like fine dining...Bayona (best to make a reservation)
If you want to have a nice meal, cooked in front of you with a cooking lesson and have fun...New Orleans School of Cooking.
Both are family-friendly.

Late to the game, but my favs depending on the circumstances are:

Clancy's (fancy dinner spot)
Napoleon House (mainly for the cocktails and ambiance)
Atchafalaya (great for just about any time, but brunch especially)
