I've been to Vegas. My wife has not.

Bless her heart she isn't a gambler but gave me a trip to Vegas (yes, with her) for Christmas.

Every time I've been it's been for 2-3 days and been a non stop gamble and booze a-thon. I expect this time will be different.

Which is why I come to you fine ladies and gents.

I'd like your opinions on restaurants for us to check out. I'd like to hit a nice one or two but also want the other places worth looking in to.

For example, I think there is a noodle and or ramen place in the caesar's Mall that is supposed to be under the radar fantastic.

And if you have ideas on a good hotel that can give a deal I'd be interested in that

One more time in case you haven't picked up that this is absolutely something you should do.

Their Tom Kah Kai is one of the best things I've ever eaten.

Another stop worth checking out if you've never been would be Bouchon in the Venetian.

If you go down to Fremont Street and downtown try Hugo's Cellar in the 4Queens Casino

Also we liked Peppermill Lounge for drinks

If you're just looking for a late night pizza, I'd recommend 800 Degrees at SLS.

It's made-to-order while you wait, basically the Freebird's of pizza.

I think Seinfeld does a Comedians in Cars with George Wallace at the Peppermill. One of the funnier ones.

Fat Choy in a dumpy casino off the strip had some really good and reasonably priced food.

also, the pizza we got at Pizza Rock in downtown was actually quite good, even though in the late hour we dined the Detroit style I wanted to get was no longer available.

That is Tony Gemignani's place. He makes some damn good pizza. We used to eat at his SF spot all the time (we don't spend much time in SF anymore or I'd still go)

Just got back from there. Took 5 kids and stayed in a condo about 2 miles off the strip. Went to a different national park each day. Drove through downtown once to see what all the lights were about. Decided I didn't need any more of that silliness, with all the stuff God made nearby. For food, Google cheap restaurants. Went to a Ramen restaurant called Monta Noodle House. Really good. Will check out more of the low key Asian places next time.

I travel to Vegas several times a year. Here are some of my go to's;

On Strip
Aureole - Expensive Mandalay Bay
Sage - Expensive Aria
Bouchon - Expensive Venetian
STK - Expensive Cosmopolitan Loud, but go on a night when DJ is playing
Border Grill - Weekend Brunch Mandalay Bay
Momo***u - Ramen Cosmopolitan
Julian Serrano - Tapas Aria

Casual On Strip
Five 50 Pizza (Aria) or Secret Pizza (Cosmopolitan)
Yardbird - Breakfast / Lunch Venetian
Bruxies - Breakfast Park MGM / NYNY
Egg **** - Breakfast Cosmopolitan

Off Strip
Nora's Italian Cuisine - go there every trip
Lotus of Siam - new location is still darn good
Bootleggers - Italian
Ichiza - Japanese (Izakawa)
Hobak Grill - Korean BBQ
Herbst & Rye - great bar and food
Monta Ramen - also have a location in Richardson
Lots of Awesome places in China Town. The best Asian cuisine outside of LA/SF.

Downtown
Oscars - Plaza Cool View at night plus Downtown is great for an evening

Cool places away from strip
Pinball Museum
Mob Museum - has a bar Underground
Any of the TV Show Places like Count Kustoms,Tanked, etc ......

This is a really good list -- though I can't speak much on off strip stuff.

The Cosmopolitan recently added a nice "food court" (think Hattie B's fried chicken and similar higher-end versions of the things you'd see in the food court). I would recommend giving it a try.

My wife and I like to stay at Aria -- and we pretty much like everything there.

Lago is also a great one at Bellagio -- tapas style Italian food with direct views over the fountain.

The Henry at Cosmopolitan is also a nice casual, brunch place we like to hit up.

another place that had good food and was a ton of fun was Rose Rabbit Lie. it's a "supper club" so it is very date night-ish. they have performers singing and dancing that work their way through the dining room as you eat. definitely worth a visit, imo.

edit: it's in Cosmo

The Steakhouse at the top of Binions, downtown is a great place. There's a lot of history there......used to be a mob hangout.......Benny Binion was a big time mob guy.

This sounds super cool.

Almost like that time I took my wife, for her birthday, to a burlesque version of the nutcracker. Under the guise of going to see the nutcracker.
