Nope, that's against federal law.

But distilling ethanol for fuel (only) is legal. ;-)

I've never done it, but my grandpa tried to make wine a few times and it was rot gut. It made great brandy, though. =)

From brewing background, it's a lot of work to make very little.

I have a 20 gallon brewing system and while I think it would be fun I still can't rationalize the time/cost vs final product.

Plus it's illegal, I'd look into consequences if you're caught. Losing my home isn't worth it.

Brewing beer or fermenting wine is legal. Distilling mash to produce ethanol is not. As far as producing ethanol for fuel, I don't think a home made still will get you higher than 160 proof.

It's really pretty easy though. Water, ground corn, malted barley, sugar, yeast, and time. Run the mash through a still, dump the heads (methanol).

It's illegal so you definitely shouldn't...

But I hear this book is pretty good for a beginner.
