Long story short, looking for a good BBQ place to stop during a day trip for my MIL's birthday. My wife has a wine tasting/tour setup with a car, etc. for a group, half of which are from Chicago. I was put in charge of finding somewhere to stop for lunch and Plantersville is the first stop.

Tejas would probably be the best in area and closest to Plantersville

How far of a drive is the group willing to take

Not sure what direction you're coming from but if you're coming from Houston, Brisket House has a new location off 1960 near Kuykendahl. They do a good job.

Coming from Katy, willing to go off the planned route some, but don't want to delay the trip much. Thanks for the suggestions.

is there normally a long wait at Tejas on Saturdays for lunch?

Yes, there is usually a line.

Rudy's just might have to do.

Even with Rudy's, people from Chicago will think they died and gone to heaven.

Brisket House wouldn't be too bad of a detour I guess.

I work in Tomball and pass Tejas 2 or 3 times a week at lunch. I've seen a line 3 or 4 times tops. Today there was no line whatsoever.

There are better BBQ options in Tomball.

Last Saturday the line was about 2 hours long from getting in line to getting food. (It was posted on another forum on TA)

On Friday I got here at 1045 and probably got my food around 1115-1120.

It was named one of the top 50 BBq spots in Texas. I went in with an open mind and came away very impressed.

Where else in Tomball is better?

Lol, what? Tejas has the best brisket in Houston, let alone Tomball.

Glad you like it. We've tried it 4 times and not been impressed. As I said I work in Tomball and never once have I heard anyone mention it.

Yeah he's going to Plantersville from Katy and doesn't mind a mild detour.
