Fast food burger that is. Apparently lots of U.S. Americans love them some Five Guys. Guess I need to try them sometime. Texas an Lousiana know what's up though.

5 guys doesn't really seem like a true fast food burger, more like a fudruckers. That could be the peanuts all over the place though.

NM will fight for days over red or green, but are generally too broke and too high/drunk to care about fast food burgers. SD...it's South Dakota who cares

You are right about five guys. It is good, but not fast food. Places like five guys, mighty fine, or fudruckers are good places to eat, but it isn't fair comparing a $6 burger meal place to a $10 burger meal place.

In and out, Culver's, and whtaburger are all fair to compare though.

And culvers is really good also. I would be ok eating there are whtaburger.

I agree Five Guys always gets lumped into the fast food category when it's more of a sit down place.

Outside of Shreveport area, i would bet the number of whatsburgers in Louisiana is close to the number in College Station.

I think Five Guys is overrated. It's not bad, but it's not worth the price. I'm surprised Freddy's isn't anywhere.

Freddy's isn't fast food either

Just got a double meat double cheese Whataburger meal with onion rings. $9.46

I like Whataburger well enough but there's also a convenience factor that made me choose it over Five Guys. If i am driving, that means a lot. Going in and sitting down, the extra couple of bucks at Five Guys is worth it.

Driving while eating whataburger is recipe for needing an extra shirt

I spend quite a bit of time in SD for work 2-3 weeks/year and truth is there are just no alternatives. There are a lot of independent restaurants in the smaller towns that are leaps and bounds better, just a lack of options.

I disagree. Drive-thru = fast food.

The only burger chain I have to stop at when I am in their territory is White Castle.

Never mind that they made liars out of the Beastie boys, as their fries. Come in more than one size.

That said, Culver's butter burgers are good

White Castle may be the only fast food I've ever tried that I couldn't finish.

I wouldn't call Five Guys a fast food joint when they don't have stand alone buildings nor drive thrus. Not to mention it's $12 for burger, fries and a drink.

Not going to lie...tried the Steak N Shake in Pearland for the first time a while back. Was pleasantly surprised, especially for the fact that it was something like $7 all in for a burger, fries and drink. Compared to the last several times I've been to Whataburger (various stores), it was better. Whataburger gets a lot of love, but they have not been anything worth bragging about for a while IMO outside of a few of their specialty burgers, and even those are hit an miss.

Culvers is great, had one down the street when we lived in AZ and they make a solid fast food burger.

In-N-Out is overrated, never understood the appeal outside of the "secret" menu that is anything but a secret.

Five Guys isn't fast food, and they make a good burger.

White Castle is good "I'm drunk" food.

In-N-Out is overrated only because the hype is so big. If Whataburger got that kind of hype, it would be overrated as well.

In and Out is bland to me. There's nothing about them that stands out and for me, their ceiling is below Whataburger's floor.
