I think smoked salmon is rather tasty. But it's also rather expensive to eat frequently. I came across this video showing a guy jerry rigging a smoker in his backyard and was thinking of giving it a try.

For those that have an actual smoker, or smoke it another way, what do you do? And how does it turn out?

Thanks

I smoke it on my BGE all the time.

It's not as much fun as catching them.

I smoke salmon on my BGE for my wife and it's really quick. I buy the salmon from Costco and trim it because the thin pieces will cook sooner. Do an easy quick brown sugar, salt and a little Worcester sauce brine for an hour or so. Pat dry the fish and get the BGE to 200 or so then put in apple wood for the smoke. About 40 to 60 minutes later you are done. Pull the thin trimmings sooner. Wife puts it on her salads for the week.

Smoke in my WSM. Use Alton Brown's recipe. Before owning a smoker we'd do it like he says using a cardboard box as a smoker.
