Anyone have a recommendation for a good waffle maker?
The wife wants one for Christmas.

Don't know the brand but we have one that has waffle maker inserts and sandwich inserts.

We use the sandwich ones more than the waffle by a bit.

I have this Breville and even though it's expensive, it makes great waffles. Fluffy inside with a nice crust every time.

Wish my wife would ask for a waffle maker. I love them.

I suffer from pathological indecision when shopping for things like this. I currently have the super cheap plastic nonstick non adjustable one that I got years ago, and can make pretty decent regular waffles with it. The plastic lens on the indicator light broke recently... which doesn't really affect its ability to cook, but I've been thinking about getting a new one.

So I tend to start by googling and finding things like this Sweethome review comparing models.

For this guide, we interviewed Daniel Shumski, author of the blog and cookbook Will It Waffle?; J. Kenji Lpez-Alt, culinary director of Serious Eats; Tim Kemp, culinary manager of home cooking delivery service Blue Apron; and Matt Maichel, the ex-chef/owner of the catering company Waffle Which Way. Between them, they have made many thousands of waffles and other waffled items over the years and have used upward of a dozen waffle makers.

To determine our original winner, we evaluated top-rated waffle makers on America's Test Kitchen (subscription required), Good Housekeeping, and food blogs and websites like The Kitchn, in addition to the best sellers on Amazon. For this update, we started with the available winners from our original guide and looked for new competitors. We eliminated anything that cost $100 or more, since there's no use in paying a lot for such a single-purpose, occasional-use machine. We also passed on anything with a higher-than-average rate of complaints about failures or overheating.
But if I contemplate going for the more expensive ones than their $100 cap, I find myself escalating to completely ridiculous options like Krampouz commercial waffle makers that cost >$1000 and might involve running a new 240V line.

Not going to happen, of course, but just knowing those exist affects how I look at the reasonable choices.

This is why we still have an outdated TV.

Thanks for the replies. She never hinted at a brand so this helps.

My kids wanted to get one for their mom for Christmas so I pulled the trigger on a All-Clad 99012GT off Amazon. Not cheap but it got a lot of good reviews from a bunch of Internet sites. It makes American style waffles which the kids like better than the thicker Belgium style plus it's good looking so leaving it out is OK.

Hope it's was worth the $100.

I bought the older Waring Pro version of this guy:

IMO, the key to great waffles is finding the perfect recipe regardless of machine. The following recipe works great for me with one modification: I separate the eggs and fold in the whisked egg whites just prior to getting started. For a little different flavor I will occasionally add 1 tsp of cinnamon.

Good luck!

That's pretty close to the recipe I use except mine uses buttermilk and both baking soda and baking powder.

The thing I love about waffles is that they freeze great and taste great as well after reheating in the toaster.

Agreed. Love waffles. We've had a Waring Pro for years. Awesome.

We have the Breville that we got from money/gift cards from our weddings. It does not disappoint. Waffles have a nice exterior and soft interior. Has a channel all around in case of overflow.

I use the Cuisinart round waffle maker. I prefer standard waffles over Belgian.

We had a Mickey Mouse waffle maker... This year we replaced it w a George Foreman Grill- interchangeable waffle plates and ceramic grilling plates. Easy fast no muss. Pop out the plates to wash. Grill sliders in minutes.

Does it really only take 90 seconds per waffle?

91. But honestly I don't know. It seems to work fairly quickly but I've never timed it. I wasn't aware of that particular claim in any event.

The Breville works great and cleanup is as simple as wiping it out with a paper towel. Consistently good waflles.
