I forgot to post this a couple weeks ago when I returned from NYC but Chelsea Wine Vault had, on consignment, PVW 15 and 23 for $1k and $2k respectively. Jesus.
"On consignment". Riiight. Someone bought bottles for $500 and $1000 and wants to double their money.
$1k for the 15??????? Ridiculous.
Last time I was in Gabriel's (San Antonio) about a month ago, they had one bottle of the Old Rip Van Winkle for 799.99 (cash price).
I laughed at the sales associate when he told me the prices.
Specs by me has not gotten in the Four Roses LE yet... It shows up in their inventory, but it isn't actually at the store yet.

Don't even bother looking at inventory for Specs. It's completely worthless and never accurate.
Anyone tried Old Blowhard? Saw it tonight for $176. I don't know much about it but dang that seems pricey even at 26yo. I might just hope to find it at a bar to try.

It's one of the worst whiskeys I have ever tried. Couldn't even finish a 2oz pour >>>> Down the sink (sample was sent to me).

Well that's no bueno. I'll still give it a shot if I see it at a bar. Hopefully I can work a complimentary sip.
Nose is "okay". Taste is dry, tannic, over wooded. Sadly it has to be cut down to 70 proof to make it tolerable.
Picked up some stuff at the liquor store for the long weekend. The jack isn't for me, but I'm still curious to try it.

And I can unequivocally say that Jack Daniels Rested Rye sucks. I wouldn't even waste a Coke if someone wanted to mix it. It tastes like bananas.

I guess it's been a while since I've had JD. And back then I probably just shot it or mixed it with coke, so I don't really know what it tasted like.

Open to suggestions. Leaning towards aging a Manhattan. Otherwise, a friend of mine has a still, so might go that route.
If I had a mini barrel, I might throw in a handle of OWA.

I aged a Sazerac that turned out really good. Have an Old Fashioned about two weeks in right now. Negronis are supposed to age really well, but I don't like them normally, so I passed.
Check out Jeffery Morgenthaler's website. He pretty much started the barrel aged cocktail movement in the US. Has some good tips.

There is a bottle of EC21 at my local for msrp. Can't bring myself to pull the trigger.
I just accidentally came across an amazing online liquor store and put in an unbelievable order. If it actually arrives and they don't just steal my credit card number, I'll post a link to it for those people in states that allow liquor shipments.

It is worth it. To me it is better than PVW20.
