Taking cost into account, 1, 2, 3. From a pure flavor and experience standpoint, 2, 1, 3. Love ECBP but standard offering leaves me wanting. Other things that I like more for the money.

Rare breed is good especially at the price point of $40-45.

Not a huge fan of standard Elijah Craig. Picked up ECBP B520 yesterday. First pour was enjoyable.

Don't really do rye but I actually liked the one pour of whistle pig I've had.

had some tastes last night with a friend

W12 - haven't had in awhile, tastes like smoother Weller SR. Can't believe people chase and pay secondary for this!
Willet Family Rye - how does every Willet have the same flavor? Even their bourbons and ryes. Wouldn't buy
Suntory - I assumed this was going to be Japanese bourbon...nope, it was peaty whiskey. God Bless America

Well this sounds amazing.

I'm a huge Barrel Bourbon fan. They have been knocking it out of the park for the last 5-6 releases, and now they are venturing into barrel finishing, which as a Scotch fan, I love.

My favorite local liquor stores first store pick was a 13 year Barrell Bourbon and it's outstanding imo. Pricey like most of their offerings. I don't believe he has sold out yet if anyone wants to try it.
the_batman26: I guess yall need this, its something to take pride in. At least the Feds trusted us with the Space Center; and I seem to recall the Feds not having the best time in Dallas.

I haven't pulled the trigger on a bottle of Barrel. This bottle might get me to (if I can find it). The Amaro barrel finishing in particular is intriguing to me. My love of whiskey is (almost) eclipsed by my love of Amaro!

Did they disclose which amaro? If it's Averna or Ramazzotti I could see it being awesome. I'd be less excited about Nonino or Montenegro.

I feel like a dumbass. Need some help. I have four (4) bottles of THH.

2 at 64.2% ABV
1 at 63.6 ABV
1 at 64.6 ABV

I suspect the 2 at 64.2%ABV are the great ones.

Any help?

Figured it out now that I am semi-sober. A couple of them are 2013s. That year was particularly excellent. Still my favorite whiskey of all time.

You clearly have not tried the 2019 THH. It's a straight drain pour. Made me wonder if I just did not like rye anymore...nope it was just a terrible year.

But in all seriousness, I have seen a couple of reviews that weren't happy with it. I did not have the same experience re: the funk/medicinal taste. In my opinion (and based solely on my experience; n=1) choosing between vintages of THH is a personal preference and not a matter of quality. But I'm just some dude.

Fair enough. I honestly poured out half of my glass of the '19 when I tried it. Tasted like terrible medicine. But to each his own. I loved the 2017 and 2018 iterations.

I really hate to hear that. It evokes concerns of QC issues, as (again, to my knowledge) I've never heard nor seen nor read any BTAC bottle from any release being polarizing.
