Picked up some old forester 1920 prohibition style. Really really enjoying the depth.

Nice man... I swear if the guy at specs tells me to buy 1835 or potstill one more time I am going to lose it. I know he has a job to do, but when I politely say I am just browsing and he pushes that **** it really irks me.Latrobe said:
Some great pick ups this weekend and today! The ER picks are from Costco. The Whistle Pig is actually a 16 year barrel pick from HBS and is unreal!
And then my local mom and pop came through with my first bottle of W12 and ETL! He set them aside for me over the weekend and when I stopped in this afternoon he pulled them out. Good man!
It pays to establish a relationship with a local mom and pop. I may pay an extra $2 for a bottle of wine.....but he treats me like a human, unlike that ***** at Specs.
Great haul. How available are costco picks? Do they sell out same day usually? Never had an ER store pick and would like to try one someday.Latrobe said:

Y'all better go grab as much of it as you can. Rumor around Nashville is that Belle Meade is moving away from their single barrel cask strength reserve.AggieBarstool said:Truth!MW03 said:
I think I'm just going to start buying based on age statements and proof, and stop trying to research ahead of time entirely. Staying away from lists and reddit and everything. Especially since Belle Meade Cask appears to be sourced MGP bourbon, and it's one the very best bottles I've bought in the last couple of years, and I found it by just randomly throwing a dart one day.
I had Belle Meade's entry-level offering last night and thought it was damned tasty and smooth for a $40 bourbon you can find literally anywhere in DFW. Gonna have to give that one a try once my bourbon assortment starts thinning out.

I've never been in a Spec's where they don't treat you like crap for asking about allocateds. If they'd put them on the shelf or actually use their points system as it's designed instead of holding them for the manager's friends, they'd get a lot less questions/complaints about it.
That said, the allocation game is ridiculous and then you have all these hoarders (flippers) who make it even worse. But Spec's is in the liquor business and people are trying to give them money for their products...and then they act like asses about it. Definitely makes me want to give my business to TW and other stores where they treat me well.

If you can without a doubt prove that Spec's managers and/or employees are reserving allocated bottles for friends or family you can expect action from Smith St. They don't mess around with that. They nuked the entire day shift at a northwest houston Spec's over a similar incident. I wasn't involved but knew several that were, as well as, the employees in question.
