I picked up one as well. Heard good things but haven't tried it yet!
Haven't had the rye but WT sent me a free bottle of the rare breed this week for their mess-up and it's quite good

So do we know why liquor depot sucks so bad?!? The prices on anything that even sniffs allocation is 3-10 times msrp.
Im in VA. Looks like a bunch of stores got a fairly decent stock.
Hate to say this, but this was the only MM Cask strength alive. All else is some form of aging in various flavored barrel staves.
I opened mine last night. It grew on me with each sip. A tad sweeter than most ryes I like with a hint of mint.

They had some at premium liquor in Houston at TC Jester and 18th today
I dont get what your saying. Doesnt the label on that bottle literally say it was finished with flavored staves? The new bottling appears to be the same thing just a 750 versus 375 size.
MM uses staves to flavor their bourbon. They are not 'flavor staves'.

Found a Elijah Craig SiB pick at Total Wine today.
They have a ton at TW memorial. It's a store barrel pick, but not barrel proof....Buy any 2 of their spirits get 10% off, so $68 for 2 out the door.

I think it might be safe to say that Blanton's on a shelf at any store in Texas is rare now days unless you get lucky and you go to the big box store right after they put it on the shelf. Might be some a-hole stores (Liquor Depot is one in DFW) that have them on the shelf for $150 though. Good luck in your search though.IceAg22 said:

No but specs on west side 1604 had like 10 cases of Bookers beatin biscuits a few weeks ago. That is as hard to find as Blantons in metroplex. Unless you are in Plano where they get everything.
You can find it. You just have to look, a lot, and get lucky. Build a relationship with a manager at Specs or Twin Liquors and visit Total Wine often and you'll eventually run across one. That said, there's damn good bourbon out there for $63 or less (not to say I don't like Blantons and don't get me wrong, I do buy it when I find it).
My first bottle of bookers I had in many years was beaten biscuits. Is that considered one of the better batches? I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Tried this last night out of Fire Oak Distillery in Liberty Hill. Very smooth. Enjoyed it.
There's a lot missing for something you just "tried".
I've seen some of the MM Private Selects cask strength that use the same stave combination as the 46, and label it 46 Cask Strength where the barrel pick name goes.
Looking for a ECBP A120 or B520! Ive got a McKenna 10 I'd be willing to trade. Message me if you are interested.
I think all 10 have to be the oak stave on the back label... believe that equates to the same recipe.
That 375mL bottle was MM's first batch way back when they threatened to lower the proof of MM. I had to ask them to reconcile lowering proof of MM and offering 46 CS. Seemed contrary to their strategy. They obviously backed off of that.

Grabbed a bottle of Knob Creek 12 today. Excited to try it with a cigar this evening during the fights.
Had some last night. It's solid. Definitely an improvement from the NAS/9 year.
