Also did the Whiskey connoisseur tasting at Heaven Hill this past April and went back to look at my pictures. The one that I liked the most was the Very Special Old Fitzgerald 12 year. Bad part was that they didn't have it for sale there.... would have bought that in an instant.

This is an underrated pour IMO. Came across a bottle a while back, hadn't seen it before and figured what the hell. It was only about $40 or so if i remember, and worth every penny. If i stumble across another, it's likely coming home too.

Did the HH Connoisseur last march. We had:

Elijah Craig
Henry McKenna Single Barrel BiB (Great Value)
VSOF-(Outstanding but sadly discontinued)

What was fascinating too was that they brought out a 24 year old "Bad" bourbon to illustrate flavor profile, "Off" flavors and quality control. It wasn't terrible but very interesting!

Understand.........but have traded others in the the area who have it just for show and don't really know what they have and/or don't really want to be a bourbon drinker anymore.

I have some Willett Family Estate bourbon that outstrips the proofing on Stagg, Jr. For some reason, Stagg, Jr. drinks hotter than it is.

Read online it's 7.the first few times I've tried it, it was fire, but it's grown on me. I was semi hammer and tried staff jr & ECBP blind. It could have gone either way.

Agree totally ECBP is one fine pour, haven't found any up my way..........Stagg Jr., you can keep it as far as I am concerned.

Having a tasting over at my house tonight. The regional Rep from Beam Suntory is bringing over Booker's Blue Knight Batch, Makers Cask, Beam Distiller's Masterpiece, Maker's 46 Select, Laphroaig Lore and a couple more not mentioned. Should be a good evening.

I've had three or four other Makers picks, and none of them have been anything special to me. I'd like to try this one to see if it's any different, but the hype has made it impossible to get.

While many of the new Makers Private Select store picks are so-so, I've also found a Maker's Private Select that is the best Maker's I've ever tasted, far and away. The ability to change up the stave blend and count really affects the finish.
