depth charged double bas+ard is really, really good. exceeded my expectations and I had relatively high hopes to begin with. espresso is just an absolute perfect addition to db. I guess right now you have to buy the box to get it, but this year paired with oaked ab, I have no complaints. then of course the regular ab and double. still, hope to see it available on its own. interesting that it's bottled and brewed by arrogant bas+ard brewing co., I guess they really are making ab its own entity. I guess more variants are coming if thats the case

I think Oskar Blues Death by Coconut is supposed to be a national release this year, right? Anyone know what availability in Texas is or will be like?

just an fyi that HEB Holleman has a bunch of "Not Gandalf" in their front-facing beer case.

Had some of my uncles home brews last night. A Hefeweizen, a doppelbock, and an imperial helles bock. All 3 were medal winners. Unbelievable. Doppelbock was better than any commercial offering I've ever had.

Nice. Tower Point HEB had some as well by that truck bed thing where they have cases stacked on the floor.

Also, Tower point has trigave.

Real Ale's Devil's Share FTW tonight. One of my favorites from their Mysterium Verum series.

That Breakfast Stout is good stuff.

Sitting in the beer hall at Surly. New setup is great.

1. 2015 Darkness is really good. Aging this year's version in High West rye barrels that should be coming out mid-December. Think that combo will be killer.

2. Abrasive....just really good. Sure the cans are good but felt like having it on draft added an extra dimension to it.

So is this year's 512 WBDPP infected or what?

Really? Dang, I really liked it. Drank mine last night. I thought the tequila paired really well. But it did cover up the floral aspects you expect in a trippel. But even still, I thought it was another excellent FUN beer.

As for the WBDPP, it's not infected. Well at least if it is, it's so young that nothing has happened yet. The bottle I got is drinking very well.

I don't really like trippels very much, just thought I'd try this one out to see if it'd change my mind. I thought the aroma was great though.

That's the word on the street... I've had a couple of beer friends that I trust tell me it's infected as well.

I'm going to disagree with your friends. And especially as early as it is in the bottle, it hasn't had time to do much if it were infected by the bottling line. If it was infected out of the barrels, then I would hope that 512 wouldn't have released it.

Checking out Southerleigh Brewery tonight. Not crazy about the beers I've tried, but I am digging the spot and surrounding area.

Never heard of this brewery. Where is it?

It's in San Antonio at the old Pearl brewery. There is a bunch of other **** around here, kinda like City Center in the Tine but bigger.

We're flying in tomorrow, and I was about to ask the same thing. Been looking at a handful of breweries online. We're staying with friends in Franklin, so I'm looking at stuff out that direction.
