Finally made it back home from about 3 weeks in the Midwest. I'm generally pretty bad about reporting back on breweries I visited and I realized I visited quite a few so here goes...
Young Blood Brewing (Madison, WI)Not super memorable... we only stayed for a beer. Think I had the Pils and it was fine. Super cool spot right downtown though.
Working Draft Brewing (Madison, WI)This was a little far outside downtown Madison. Cool spot... patio was in the parking lot which wasn't great. Enjoyed the Hazy IPA. They had tamales too which were pretty darn good.
Funk Factory (Madison, WI)Maybe my favorite brewery of our trip. Out in the middle of nowhere... has a Jester King vibe but in the middle of an industrial area. Prices were insanely reasonable on bottles... like $15 for a small bottle of Spon.
Thirsty Pagan Brewing (Superior, WI)This place surprised the crap out of me... didn't expect much but they had some really good beers and damn good pizza. The peach sour was my favorite I tasted. Also... I think the building is an old Railroad station which was cool.
Voyageur Brewing (Grand Marais, MN)I mean... it's your only option in a tiny ass tourist town. Beers were not super memorable. Their food is actually really good though.
22 Northman Brewing (Alexandria, MN)Finally a decent brewery in Alexandria. We've been coming here for 7 or 8 years and there has been nothing to speak of until now. Beers were decent... but every beer is served in an aluminum cup. Blew my mind.
Nortons Brewing (Wichita, KS)We make it a point to stop here on the way back home every year. Great outdoor area for kids and stellar beer. Their Hazy IPA was phenomenal. Really good food too. They also serve liquor if you are into that sort of thing.
Of course I brought back some beer... things got dicey packing. I may need a bigger car.
