Looks like Kings & Convicts is starting to put through Ballast Point labels. It seems lime they've been a little less available outside of Sculpin since the sale. Hopefully that means some of their other stuff starts making a return.
never made it down there, but Skull Mechanix in ausitn is the latest victim of covid. Permanently closed.
I don't recall ever seeing their stuff on this thread. Maybe I missed it, but if they didn't show up on a Texas-centric beer thread with plenty of Austin people, maybe the pandemic wasn't the primary issue their business faced.
A lot of breweries are going to go under during the next year or so, but it probably won't be the ones that beer people really like.

I liked an ipa they put out called Gully Cat but never tried anything else.

It won't be the Shiners or Saint Arnold's or Real Ales of the world, but it may well claim some local favorites that aren't canning/bottling much. It may be that it just hastened the demise of some places for sure, but it still sucks that the government is the reason they're losing their business now.
So, what are your thoughts on the comparison?

Beach condo beer. Any of y'all familiar with Ghost Train? Picked this up because of the label art. It's good. The quickie mart across from the condo has a really solid selection of craft beer. I picked up a 6 of Westbrook Gose for the beach tomorrow. Also several offerings from this Ghost Train brewery. Plus GiTM that is only a month old.
Went to Skull Mechanix once and had a couple of ok IPAs. They had a cool taproom and a stage for live music. But it's hard to survive this time when your taproom is the biggest draw.
Beach time breakfast beer.

Beer marketing has jumped the shark. Think this all started with breweries dumping oreos and gummy worms, etc. into beer.

Somehow we have to work "pretzel bun" flavor in there too.
But seriously, isn't "aged on hot dog" a botulism concern? I'm not sure how to make that safe from a food science perspective. Maybe just add some MSG.

Shiner had a black lager that tasted like beef jerky and gasoline, but don't think it was on purpose.
Rahr & Sons Texas Red circa 2014 or so. Worst beer I've ever had, was like teriyaki water!
Anybody remember Shiner Smokehaus? I enjoy rauchbier on occasion but that stuff was terrible.
