OK so lately the downtown Specs hasn't exactly been impressing me with their beer selection. As I will be driving around Houston this weekend running various errands, I was hoping to get some suggestions on decent sources of brew. What you guys got? I already intend on stopping by the Bunker Hill HEB.

I usually shop at the Buffalo Speedway HEB, and I believe it to be comparable to the Bunker Hill location. I can honestly say that I don't recall being able to get anything there that I couldn't also get at the midtown Spec's, but YMMV.

dave - i only have a set of 4 (bday gift from the gf), but i might get more made down the road. They aren't cheap in small quantities, although if I went with screen printed instead of etched, i'm sure the cost would drop. However, I dig the etched glass.

I had some of Buffalo Bayou's new Smoke on the Bayou last night. Pretty fantastic. I'm a huge 1836 fan and this is even better.

I do have more than a little of a hangover today, though.

Sipping a Ruination 10 at the moment. Spoke with a rep from Karbach yesterday at HEB, and he said that they will have Oktoberfest and Chardonnay barrel aged Barn Burner on tap at Whole Foods Montrose on Wednesday.

Finally got my New Glarus 12 pack sampler. I probably should have waited to open this one. I'm pretty loaded from tailgating all afternoon. Just got home at midnight. I like the Spotted Cow.

I was in Atascocita Saturday and managed to pick up 3 DFH 120 min. IPAs. I'm currently struggling through drinking one-much too sweet and seems to be seriously lacking in hops. Was it this way on tap?

All but the Old Chub were purchased as singles from my neighborhood HEB! Good brews all around. Bought the Old Chub back when Specs was running a sale.

I had to last year on tap and my analysis would fit with yours mostly. It is not as hoppy/bitter has you might expect and the super high ABV really boosts the sweetness. 7 oz or so was enough for me.

having a New Glarus Moon Man. I know I've stated many times I'm not an hop guy, but this is pretty tasty. APAs tend to be a little more drinkable for me, but this one really stands out.
