I'm a civilian who has the opportunity to work in Germany on an army base so we will be on a SOFA. If this isn't the right place to ask, just let me know but I was hoping someone has gone through it already. Google hasn't really helped.

If I accept this job, I am wondering if my wife will be able to telework there. Does anyone know what steps she or the company will need to take to make this happen? It is a small regional office that doesn't do any work in Germany. Who should we even ask about this? HR was not helpful.

She is a rule follower and a CPA so she does not want to get a VPN to telework. Thanks for any help.

The difference there is one of the worst offsets compared to staying in touch/on a US time

I checked out some most of that already. It just says that they are trying to improve it but not really specifics. A lot just says talk to an attorney. I wasn't sure if anyone had firsthand knowledge

She would set her own hours to some extent and just get tasks done. Any communication would happen in the morning for the US so it didn't sound like a deal breaker.

You're going to want to talk to a tax person to discuss the implications.

2. Join 'A Perfect PCS to Germany" facebook page. Lots of people in your same situation.

3. Careful who you listen to. Get what you need in writing. There are differences between someone teleworking for the US GOV and not. Just pointing out that sometimes not everyone knows your exact situation.
