Can someone on this board help me understand how this works? I've never given it much thought before until I see articles like this. I've heard of Seals getting losing their Trident as well. Cpt. Sowell in the Band of Brothers book drummed a soldier out of the unit for being late returning from leave. This guy had MPs with tommy guns standing by while soldier had his awards physically ripped from his uniform in front of the company.

I always thought that awarded medals or tabs/badges earned through completing a school were permanent. Rank is earned, but is commonly revoked. A good explanation of this would be appreciated. Thank!

Awards, tabs, etc. can be revoked. Guidance for Army is in AR 600-8-22, chapter 1. 1-30 to 1-32.

What the Army did was "administrative" and not judicial so they can do anything they want.
