To be scrapped per an article appearing in the OC Register. Estimated cost to repair the vessel is $2.9-3.2 Billion. The USN considers that figure to high so the vessel will be scrapped instead. Anything that is considered salvageable will be saved. No mention if a new replacement vessel will be built, but the article did state that it would take 6-8 years to build new from scratch.

Question: how does this impact our Navy today? Obviously there are certain things we can't do.
