How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have a friend (female if it matters) that was elisted in the Navy, did her 4 years and got out.

During that time she got her nursing degree, certifications etc and would like to return to the Navy in
their Nursing Corps as an officer. She is aware of the requirements for OCS etc and the physical requrements etc are not a problem.

The issue she's having is knowing who to talk to. The "regular" recruiters blew her off and were of no help. Geographically she is not near anywhere that is tradionally "Naval" (Northern Indiana) so finding an officer's recruiting post isn't as easy as finding one for, say the Corps of Cadets etc.

My question is, does anyone here know who she should talk to or have a connection/contact that she could reach out to? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Edit: This friend is also originally from TX and lived in Bryan for a while, so it is a homegirl.

um, she is a hop, skip, and a jump away from Great Lakes Naval Station in North Chicago. Have her go to a Navy ROTC program and ask for the Nurse Counselor's name for the region the program is in. The counselor will be able to give her the proper information.

She as called Great Lakes, and was referred to Detroit, of all places. Who then, in tern, blew her off.

She went though boot camp at Great Lakes and is familiar.

Just one minor correction: Nurses don't go to OCS. They are directly commissioned (in her case) and then go to a very easy five-week Officer Development School where they basically learn how to put on a uniform.

Very cool. Was not aware of that. Her being prior service, she probably has the uniform folding/wearing part down...haha.

Either find a different navy recruiting district(NRD) nearby, or contact the commanding/executive officer of the NRD she's at (or whatever officer is above her recruiter), and say that she tried getting in contact with a recruiter/but has been having bad luck getting her application rolling. Something to that effect, don't directly say she was blown off, that way she can still somewhat maintain a relationship with her recruiter, if she keeps the same one.

Can also try contacting general officer recruiter and do the same with them.

And yeah, ODS is very much like a summer camp more than a boot camp experience.

Yeah, sorry about that. Enlisted recruiters only care about people who count toward their quota. They'll either try to steer you from OCS or just blow you off.

When I was going through the process of my Naval ROTC scholarship those guys were real straight shooters. Enlisted recruiters will lie to a "Rick" all the way past MEPS.
