So, I saw a ME 262 flying into Ellington AFB yesterday around 1730. Anyone shed any light on this? I thought the only functional ME 262 was in Germany. I could not believe my eyes when I saw it.

If I would have left work at my usual time I would have seen it! I think the Collins Foundation has a flying one. Also I know one was at the Wings over Houston Airshow a year or two back. The Collins foundation will be at Ellington next weekend.

Likely the Collings Foundation aircraft, it is based there. It's not actually a WW2 example but a recent (2004-ish) built copy with updated engines/avionics. New or not, I definitely did a double take the first time I saw it.

For a small fee, you can take it for a spin

Several years ago, a company rebuilt a 262 for a museum. During that rebuild, they studied every inch of it, and planned to build 5 or 6 airworthy copies, except with modern engines

I suspect that's what you saw
