Roger that...it's looking incredible! The detailed brickwork and the new landscaping especially stand out. Tip of the hat to those involved - it looks great.

Hats off to the Commandant for pushing thru the renovation of the entire Quad--including four new Learning Centers and all 12 dorms--in only two years!!

Thanks, Fitch.

Thanks to Fitch for the great photos.

I walked the Quad last week, and am very pleased with all that I saw. Still some items being worked on, but its going to look awesome for the start of football season and the first step-off from the Quad!

Thanks again for the photos, Fitch. We'll publish some in August when all final touch-up items are complete.

Thanks for your love and support of our Corps! Gig 'em and Beat the Hell Outta UCLA!

Shot in the dark here. Does anyone know who made or where one could purchase some of the metal cut-out signs hanging on the fence behind dorms 5 and 7?

Concur. Take a hi res photo. Better preservation.

Here's one from the 1940-41 school year, lunch formation. Would be good to have a parallel - same buildings, grass, small trees, and differences.

That's a great photo. It would be very cool to see the same shot taken nearly 80 years later.

On the right side of the door of dorm 9 is a sign, which probably indicated the dorm name.

Today Dorm 9 is Eli L Whiteley Hall but what was the Dorm's name in 1941?

Dorm 3, 7 or 9?

I lived in Dorm 9 Room 128 in 1986-87

My father was a fish in 1940-41 but what we think of today as the Corps quad was the "new" area in 1940. My father lived in Hart Hall in the original Corps dorms area and ate in Sbisa. I wonder if they marched to chow without the band?

Dorm 9. 321 86-87. B-1; blowing calls with that air raid siren.

I do recognize the name Valigura, (you?) as an upperclassman in the dorm,

As for DD- well, Ima make you wait until the book is published. Hahaha. Good times, interesting, trying, but damn goo times.

Not me since I was in A Battery, but I'm sure we crossed paths a few times.

Look's like L-1 and B-1 were in Dorm 9 during the 86-87 year

And K-1.
4- L-1
3 B-1
2 K-1/2nd Batt Staff
1 BQs

Of course we were disbanded that summer and black belts rolled into L-1.

I knew there was a Regiment outfit/Staff on the 2nd stoop but I couldn't remember the outfit.

I can't believe that B1 was disbanded and L1 wasn't; what an outfit!

Apologies to the OP for the derail, but since we're this deep into it -

Don't forget ABATT that 86-87 was L-1's first year back in existence since the disband over cutting the Christmas tree from the President's yard in the 70's or 80's. In the fall of '86 M-1 & F-1 combined to form L-1; Kent Hammacker was the C.O. that inaugural year. In B-1 we had the last of the C-1 Cobras ('88 & '87), few as they were. That's where we inherited the Centerpole pot lineage.

We needed a scorecard to keep up with all the changes back then.

What we really need is a separate thread.
