Supporting our troops can be as simple as a handshake and a heartfelt "thank you." From hiring veterans to work at your business to sending care packages overseas, what is a way you would like to or have supported our veterans? Here's a story that shows this support can start early in life.

Denise and Nolan O'Neal '82 created an Aggie Veteran Freedom Scholarship to honor the military career of Nolan's father, Maj. Nolan O'Neal '75.

When the O'Neals explained to their five-year-old grandson Jude how they were pooling money to fund a veteran scholarship, the boy placed his entire life's savings - $2.33 in a plastic sandwich bag and took it to his great-grandfather's funeral for the fund.

John LeCounte '16 (pictured above with Jude and the O'Neal family) is one of many who will benefit from the O'Neal's Aggie Veteran Freedom Scholarship. After completing multiple tours in the Middle East, he transferred to Texas A&M to pursue a doctorate in educational human resource development.
