after swearing off the Marine Corps for life last summer, I got homesick for it and joined a reserve unit. I'll be attending the ball in a few weeks, and it just occurred to me that I have to get medals mounted, and I have no idea where to go now that I'm not near a base. does anyone know of a good website or location near Houston that is affordable? I checked one website and it was like $200 bucks, which seems high to me.

While you can pay for custom mounting, you can slide your issued medals onto a standard metal uniform mount yourself for far less.

I think I did pay a couple hundred to have my medals done for my dress uniform, so that may be the site you were talking about. I haven't found anything better or cheaper out there.

I used https://www.ultrathin.com/ and had a good experience. I don't know how fast they can get to you though, normally I would order my stuff several months in advance just to be safe.
