40 gallon gas. In the garage.

Will Fix It wanted $1100 to $1500 just for labor.

Seems crazy high.

Any recommendations?

I've done about 6 of them, couple of my houses, sister in law, mother in law.

It is a lot easier than you think, the usual issue is older connections that you may need to reuse from the plumbing coming out of the wall. Most of the time, it is as worst a 2-3 hour job and maybe one return trip. Just be careful transporting home.

Is it already up to code with a stand and pan? If not, you need to either get it that way if you are going to sell in the future or kick the can down the road. I may or may not have done mine as is and didn't have it up to code.

DIY buddy. It's really not to hard. You can do it and save yourself $600.

i did mine myself it wasn't that bad. i had a hard time getting my old one to drain out.

Anyone who advertises on WOAI AM, and/or has a wrapped van, is going charge out the ass.

Maybe try Nextdoor to see if your neighbors have a highly recommended mom and pop neighborhood plumber. If you don't want to do it yourself.

Thanks for replies. Friend has 4 rental homes. His guy has done replacements for him many times. $250 labor....still might do it myself

Slow draining is about the only issue you should have.

Did it myself. Well two teenage boys helped. Hardest part was getting the new one into the garage closet.

3 ft off ground and tight fit.

I really like Chambliss. Can't remember the cost, but they did a bunch of other stuff to bring it up to code. Work was fast, made sense, and everything they did looks really clean and professional.
