I live just south of NB and although I don't commute from SA, I can tell you that depending on where you are coming from, it will be from crap to total crap until you get outside of 1604 past The Forum/Olympia Hills Pkwy.

I moved to NB about two months ago. I make the commute from there to Lackland AFB on the other side of town....takes me 40-50 mins. I leave home at 645 and leave work at 245 and it's not too bad. Some days are worse than others, but overall it's nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. It is definitely worth it for me to live in NB.

I work plenty of people that go NB to Callaghan

Once a month some idiot trucker rolls his dog at 1604 and 35 or 410 and 1604

Depending on the location of work, heading east and north instead of along 1604 and 35 might make things at least less angry.

FM 1863 is an option, maybe.

From north central SA to NB daily. Commute is usually a pretty easy 45 minutes. Going home is much more of a dice roll.

Or Wurzbach Parkway to 35 depending on what Waze tells me to do

For 5 years I commuted from NB to NW SA. I would leave at about 6-6:15, and the 40 mile commute was accomplished reliably in 45 minutes. The problem area was always from 3009 to the 410 interchange especially the morning of the Cowboy Breakfast. The afternoons were the worst part though because of all the random stopping that other drivers would do. I didn't like the drive, but I didn't hate it. I would just pop on an audiobook, or podcast, and just stay in my lane. The drive would be over in no time.
