Hey all! I am potentially moving to SA from HOU here in a month or so, and have to admit I don't know much about the city and the nice places to live.

Where should a single 30-something look to live within SA with an office located on NW side off of I-10 between 410 & 1604? I have a dog, and would potentially look at buying, but most likely renting a house/apartment at first. As far as I know the North & Northwest sides of town seems to be the nicer side of town. Are there any up and coming places I should look at? Any decent areas for nightlife/socializing? Any input you have would be greatly appreciated!

For renting:

I would look at the Pearl Area or around St Mary's St. (Trinity area)
Alamo Heights has plenty of decent rentals as well.

There's also the King William area just south of downtown.

I think I would rather deal with going up and down I-10 at rush hour than dealing with the 410/I-10 interchange during that same time.

But I don't do it on a regular basis.

I can't wait for the giant aluminum 09 statue.

They should put up a statue of a police car.

OP, I was in the same situation in May. Came from Austin to San Antonio. I ended up choosing Alamo Heights, but I work downtown. The "sweet spot" mentioned above seems likes like a good area for you if you want the easiest commute.

I live in Indian Springs north of 1604 and love it.

Welp, I guess I was a little premature with the posting. Was pretty confident I'd get the position, but ended up not. Looks like I'll be staying in Houston for now.
