Long story short, we purchased a home with a pool that appears to have pex pipe for the returns instead of pvc. No issues or leaks that we know of. I've read horror stories of termites eating through pex pipe. There is significant landscaping around the pool so I'd rather not trench it. Would the bait stations around the pool be a good option to try and keep termites at bay?
We had a termite inspection before purchasing and there were no signs of recent termite activity if that means anything. We also live in corpus and have the typical hard clay/gumbo soil.
I'd appreciate any tips to try and keep them at bay/ease my mind.

Edit to add I'm not opposed to paying a company to do the work. I'm planning on having two or three companies come out and give me their recommendations. I just always appreciate TexAgs input.

So, are the PEX lines exposed to sunlight? If so, that's a no no as ultraviolet light degrades PEX!

You sure it's PEX? That stuff wouldn't last 2 months in the Corpus summer sun.

the pex underground. I may be confusing pex with what I have. I was told it is the flexible pvc pipe. Above ground running to the pumps and filters are all rigid pcv. The flexible pvc is about 3ft underground.

There are some building a case that some types of termites can eat through most anything, even the PVC you preferred for your pool. http://rb.gy/vioueq

We are pool people for decades so share your unstated fear of traditional liquid termite poisons.
What might be safe?
Well, something new-to-us has been taking care of fire ants like nothing ever before and
our friends are saying good things about it in their horse stalls.
Maybe this might work & be swimmer safe? IDK
Diatomaceous Earth http://rb.gy/n8ga8h
Bigger bags cost less of course.

You're referring to flexible PVC.

The reason termites like it is because its made with wood pulp.
