Cleaning pool decking - power wash or muiratic acid?

I've got something like kool deck on our pool decking. The past couple of years I've power washed it. It takes forever. I think the guy who sprayed it told me to use muriatic acid at 1 part to 10 parts water. I've been hesitant to mess with that because of handling the acid (I'm a chick). Should I just suck it up and do it? I know the power washing is hard on the surface.

Acid will be too. I'd mix it very light (maybe even less than 1/10) and test it. The thing about using muratic acid to clean stuff is that it is a lot easier with two people versus one. One person to put it on and scrub/brush it, and the other person to spray it off.

Does it hurt plants? I'm thinking of the run-off.

I know, I know. Billy Jack is the name of our dearly departed Boston Terrier.

Acid is a bad idea

Named after this guy?

Sorry for derail. We have Keuder's stone coping and the power washer doesn't seem to have any negative effect. The pool and patio have a more porous surface and I think there has been some scouring over the course of 10 years. Power wash 1x/year.

Yes, THAT Billy Jack. Long story, as you might imagine.

Something spilled on my kool deck and discolored it. Probably acid or chlorine. I would be careful.

I pressure wash my pool deck every year. Bought a deck cleaning attachment and a water broom, makes it much easier and quicker. I suggest investing in correct tools if you haven't already.

Karcher Universal 15" Pressure Washer Surface Cleaner Attachment, Power Washer Accessory - 1/4" Quick-Connect, 3200 PSI (amazon.com)

Ryobi Pressure Washer Water Broom - RY31211 - (Bulk Packaged - Non-Retail Packaging) (amazon.com)

Even these are low end versions. I would assume a more professional version would make it even easier:

SurfaceMaxx 14.5-in 4500 PSI Rotating Surface Cleaner for Gas Pressure Washers in the Pressure Washer Surface Cleaners department at Lowes.com

We have an electric 2000 psi pressure washer. I got the surface cleaner that goes with it today. It's going to make this process so much quicker. Thank you!
