Last nights storms appeared to have caused some damage to my roof have found a least one missing shingle.

Am I starting down a path of a major headache with my insurance or is wind damage under the umbrella that insurance will cover? I don't believe I had any hail.

I also had to already report an auto claim last month for a stolen vehicle so they probably will hate me soon.

I would say just call a local trusted roofer and have them come take a look and give an estimate and to do a complete inspection. One time I had about a 8x8 section of shingles missing after a storm and it was only a few hundred to repair I could never even tell a repair had been made.

Agree with above. A roofer can tell you what your dealing with, plus it never hurts to have a set of eyes up there occasionally. Among looking at a customer concern like wind and hail, I like to eyeball roof penetrations for issues like degraded caulk or potential leaks, and overall condition. If a roof looks good but needs a caulk touch up, it's an easy fix to help someone out. Plus I'm already up there. If it's JUST A shingle or two, you don't need to go to the carrier in most cases.
