Putting in sod for a new build. Will be putting down soil. Rocky hill country and want to water as little as possible. Would be in a pretty small area for the dog to use when she goes out. Thoughts on Buffalo Grass so vs Bermuda vs Zoysia.

Buffalo is out, doesnt handle any wear.
Bermuda or Zoysia are both good options for full sun.
Zoysia can handle more shade but costs more $.

Yes, had zoysia and the front was beautiful, but the small backyard was dirt due to dogs.

I believe the cost of buffalo grass will make the decision for you. Seed is over $1500 (and closer to $2K) for 50 lbs. Seeding rate is 3#s/1000 sq ft.
I can't imagine what buffalo sod is going for right now.
For comparison, bermuda or zoysia sod is less than $.50/sq ft.
