60% @ 4"
40% @ 6" for eventual two post lift

trying to decide on traditional rebar or fiber reinforced.

looking for thoughts or experiences; pros / cons.

Are your costs the same and do you have engr design for both methods?

If so, I would lean towards fiber, especially for future mounting of equipment if you aren't doing embeds for the lift. That way you don't have to worry about drilling through bar when you set your posts.

Theoretically, you will have less superficial cracking as well, so if you are using a urethane/polyurea/epoxy coating, you will have less surface issues.

Any lift ideas deserve either a structural engineer or surgeon
+ fiber only helps rebar, never replaces it in structural apps

the lift manufactures spec min 4 1/2" reinforced (fiber or rebar) at a min compressive strength of 3k psi

I'm planning 5 1/2" read the article. looks like I'll be tying rebar....

Not looking to save $$ per se, but more the time and effort (mostly time) jacking with rebar placement and tying. After more research, looks like fiber is more for surface cracks and structural use really needs rebar, so... bar it is

Are the floors fuzzy? Can you see fibers with vehicle headlights at night?

Fiber is better suited for topping slabs with minimal slab thickness. I wouldn't even give it a thought.

If you finish the slab, the trowels will remove or push down any of the fiber tails that stick up. The only areas you'd have to address are around penetrations are close to walls where you wouldn't work the slab as much. Even then, a pear burner takes care of them easily.

Manufacturing plant 8" SOG although I'm about to do some in a few weeks at an athletics facility as well but that is a topping slab, not a structural slab. Soil type at the previous job was garbage on-site curated fill but installed correctly in lifts. That project was Euclid Tuf Strand but we also entertained a micro steel product from Helix until we determined it would interfere with some of the clients sensitive operations. If you aren't looking closely at the finish around the columns, you can't tell it's not a traditionally reinforced slab.

4 lbs per cy??

I've done a 4" fiber floor for ProLogis, (using concrete fiber solutions), approx 200ksf, spec was 66 lbs per CY.

4 pounds/cy seems like hardly anything.
only 4 construction joints (50ksf pours), and sawcuts split those joints, plus down the long dimension, so joints were 100x100.
Not totally jointless.

Soil prep is more important than either.

Yes, 4# in a 4000 mix. We did 5-600 yard pours to be able to get off of them the same day and were turning 3-4/week at peak, so 20-25k sqft. Column bays were 14m x 14m and we cut that in thirds for joints.

I looked back at the Euclid data and their dosage ranges from 3# to a max of 20#. I can say, we had hardly any shrinkage cracks, and not having to pump or make a path for trucks in the rebar mat was a great time saver. Just had to leave an opening in the edge form and back trucks in as quick as the plant could turn them.
