I have a TV cabinet and I'd like the doors to open greater than 90 degrees. No luck at Home Depot, Lowes, or Ace. Any suggestions on where to look for the hinges or is this even possible?

There certainly are...but if there is one to meet your needs that really depends on your cabinet - what hinges are currently on there (type of hinge) and how the doors are mounted/fitted - inset, on top of a face frame, etc. A picture of what you have would probably help.

You can try Woodcraft or Rockler. Or probably even Amazon.

Google 180 degree cabinet hinge. You will get a ton of places to buy them.

That hinge only opens 90 degrees? If so, that seems weird...usually that type of hinge can swing more. Is there something else prohibiting the door from opening more than 90 degrees?

That door has what is called a 'B lip'...a rabbeted edge 3/8" x 3/8" all around the door. A ton of cabinetry in the 1940's-70's were made with this kind of door and hinge function. There are lots of replacement hinges that will fit that type of door where the hinge tucks into that rabbet without modifying the door. But as a previous poster said, keep your eye on the swing of the door probably 120 degree minimum, but maybe 180 degree.

There will be some other hinges, 'concealed' or 'european' hinges that require a 35mm hole drilled into the door and a mounting plate attached to the cabinet that with a bit of work, can get the job done.

Not sure of how handy you are? But let us know if you need more guidance.

The cabinet frame is what is stopping it from opening more. So, am I just SOL or is there an adjustment without a lot of work?

63 year old female, somewhat handy, but not with any kind of power saw or anything like that. I have a drill, all kinds of screw drivers and socket things, etc. I put together a desk and my dogs wooden crate. Plus have changed light fixtures. That's about it!!

Seems like the problem with that hinge is that the pivot point is too close to the cabinet, like this:

Something like this Amerock hinge (Link) pushes the pivot point away from the cabinet a couple of millimeters and allows for more complete rotation. Though I couldn't find a white version when searching. I'm also not sure if that linked version matches the right overlay or rabbet measurements, but it's something to look for.

As mentioned above, there are a lot of options these days, like European style hinges.

I think Ben has your solution.

Your door edge/corner is binding on the cabinet face frame and without doing major work, a hinge that has the pivot point further out from the face of the cabinet should give you more clearance (as Ben said...).

Swapping the hinge should do it. If you need a bit more clearance, rounding that edge of the door like the schematic Ben provided may be necessary. But installing a more applicable hinge should do it.

I think the hinge you are looking for would be labeled a 270 degree hinge.

It opens 90 degrees from the face of the cabinet.

Whatever. It needs to open more.
