Need to add insulation to my attic. Has standard batting in floor joists. No radiant barrier that I am aware of. Looking for input on type of insulation (blown in vs foam) . Company recommendations etc.

Details - single story, approx 2500 sq feet, approx 25 years old

If there is a thread that I missed please direct me to it.

Location - Fort Bend County
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

MJ Insulation is the main recommendation around here. I first used them about 10 years ago, but not sure if they are still the best deal around since it's been a while. Check with them if they'll do your area. Texags has given them a ton of business over the years.

I used MJ Insulation in Fort Bend last year. Mark was a pleasure to work with.

Had them take out all my blown insulation and replace with new. They were clean, fast, and price seemed very reasonable.

Did you notice any difference in bills or hvac etc?

Honestly, not much difference.

However, my house at the time had it's crappy original early 90s single-pane windows. Think those were too much for any other improvement to overcome. We replaced the windows about 6 mos later and that made a ridiculous difference. Probably should have done them first, but the windows cost 20x more lol.

Contrary to The Money Pit SOP responses to this
would not remove insulation, esp. if mineral wool (this type insulation does not ruin with moisture and is most fire-proof)

On top of existing insulation
more batt/blown insulation
then foil reflective surface

The latter options:
comes on one side of some batts
can be blown in as topping ala confetti bits
comes in "radiant barrier" rolls

This may differ from conventional rad.barr stapled to rafters which is another option that takes more material
Ten words or less ... a goal unattainable

I got a very reasonable quote from MJ last year for removal of old insulation, sealing all leaks from conditioned space to attic, and then r49 new blown in.

Here's an older thread on insulation in Houston, to which I contributed. MJ Insulation can't be recommended enough, as far as I'm concerned. We had replaced our old single panes a few years earlier and we did notice a difference in both comfort and cost.
