My energy bill has more than doubled in the last year. I know that energy prices have increased significantly, but the rates I am seeing on power to choose are the best I have seen in awhile.

I am currently paying 13.70/kWh but can lock in for 2 years at 11.6/kWh with a $125 bill credit for months that my usage is > 1,000kWh. Curious on what everyone else is doing with these crazy electricity rates.

What plan did you find with those rates?

Check for delivery charges as well because I had Gexa prior and there was an extra 5/kwh added on for delivery charges.

that cost <1000KWH is going to have you inviting all Tesla owners in your neighborhood over to top off their cars if you're sitting at 900KWH

I'm suspicious of that structure. My guess is the variable charge (energy + wires) is really high (23.6). and there's a credit at 1,000 kWh.If you use over 1,350 kWh in a month, you'll pay more than your current rate.

Edited after seeing the $125 credit.

Highly recommend these options on power to choose.

Pull the EFL and your actual usage kWh for the past year and put it through a simple excel model. Compare to your known charges for the same time period.

You might find that a straight 14.1 c/kWh will benefit you more if you hover in the 1001-1250 range per month.

I've had one of those energy credit plans years ago. If they match your usage they're fantastic!

If they don't match your usage they can eat your lunch!

I've been signing 3 month contracts recently to get <11c/kWh. No skin off my ass to spend 10 minutes looking for another company, clicking a few buttons to schedule the switch-over, set up auto pay, and off we go.

Who have you been going with? I almost did the same yesterday but seemed like it was too good to be true....

Is it not assumed rates rise from May-Sept? I have always considered January, February and March to be good months with good rates.

I'm at 11.2 cents kWh (all-in) on 36 month contract. I had to renew early last August at peak rates (14.7) but got out of that contract in November.

Texker:

Who is your provider for 11.2/kWh all-in rate? I'm going to need to renew in a few weeks and that looks pretty good to me.

Value Power. The plan is on PTC. Just checked and looks like rates have dropped a smidge since I renewed. I'm in DFW.

3 month plan right? Do you have a referral #? I've been using Real Simple energy for a few years and they've been pretty good, but am emailing thigbe now.

I locked in a 10.2c plan with Gexa and TXU (the company I switched from) just called and offered me a 9.9c fixed rate plan (non-tiered) and a $100 credit towards my bill.

Yeah I just switched from RSE to Thigbe. 4.7 for 3 months, that will offset the cancellation fee, then they have an aggregate deal coming after, 5-6, for 24-36. Sounds like it's some kind of group buy. I'll submit the first Thigbe referral number / name I get, email to tamucowpoke at hotmail

Usage cost of .047 with a TXU deliver cost of .044067 and the flat TXU fee of 3.42 is an impressive all in of .09510 for 850 kWh and .092786 for 2000 kWh, or at least that is what it would be here in DFW. Depending on your location, the deliver cost and flat fee can differ.

Helpful tip - I'm seeing better rates and terms from powertochoose.org rather than choosetexaspower.org

I hate having to do this so I am normally a 24-36 month contract. The best I'm seeing out there is a 0.065 energy charge then all the standard TXU markups for 36 months.
