7 month old Rheem water heater pilot kicked off and would not relight. Had service techs out here on warranty call and they said the TRD glass bulb shattered and want to blame it on my gas line pressure (propane). Nevermind that nothing has changed in my home and every other appliance including the 2nd water heater right beside it has worked fine for a few years.
They claim they have to reinstall a new TRD knowing if will fail just to check my propane line cfo then get approval from Rheem to install a new gas control valve which is likely the entire problem in the first place. What a pain. Thank God I have a 2nd heater I can isolate as it took a week to get the first part delivered.
Update: So the techs are reporting now that incoming propane pressure is only 8.8 inches of water column and needs to be 11-14. I don't know why this would affect a thermal relief device since it would be seeing less fuel and not too much. Meanwhile, all other appliances and other hot water trucking along fine.
