Does anyone have experience or know someone that has experience working on pocket doors? I have one that has been sticking, but the rollers appear to be ok. I cannot find the same rollers that are on the door currently. I have all the trim off and have taken the door out several times, but no matter what I do, it is still hanging up. I'm thinking that it may be something simple that I am not seeing. TIA

Weatherford doors might diagnose correctly and "have a guy"

"Sticking" brings to mind "rubbing", the cause being a door NOT painted/sealed on a 6-sides in this humid zone of Texas. Otherwise "rubbing" rarely cause by inferior grade studs that kink or crook (into the door's free space).

Usually it's a deformity in the track or hardware, as you suspect .... even if only lint, dust, fallen insulation, wood shard obstacles.

Most builders - even custom-only - twist my arm to avoid designing these when other options cause fewer "call backs" that waste their time ....
Consider pop-bi-folds if a solution is not easily found or the problem may obviously arise again.

A few in your situation have opened up this doorway into the hollow wall in order to introduce
> wide cased opening
> French doors
> Sliding glass doors

Called them and they do not have anyone who does that, however he said he would check in to it. Thank you for the info.

How old of house ?

Can you post a pic of the rollers ?

A few years ago I had to order rollers from a company in Canada to repair a pocket that had broke in CS

Have you verified that too long of nails were not used on the base and are catching the door as it slides ? I see this sometimes with careless installers.

I've lived here 34 years and it just starting hanging up about a year ago. I'm thinking it may be a guide in the back(if it has one) That's why I would like someone experienced to look at it.

I'm confused, and perhaps the one I installed is different than yours given the 34 year gap.

Mine has a track mounted above the door. There are two rolling units mounted within the track that have a locking mechanism to attach to the door.

At the bottom where the door pocket exists, is a plastic guide that keeps the bottom of the door swinging in/out and smacking the opening.

When you attempt to move it..does it feel stuck along the entire distance? Bottom has clearance? No scratches noticed on the front or back?

tgivaughn's opinion of rubbing is what I agree with...had a pocket door hang up/rub in my previous 50 yr old house. It was a hollow core door that bowed just enough to scrape along some of the framing of the pocket. Unfortunately very difficult to fix, so I moved.

Well, not because of that...just never got around to fixing.

No rubbing on the door, plastic guide is still in place. Not sure if there was a guide inside the pocket. When you try to close the door, it feels like the roller closet to the outside tries lifting up, therefore seeming the the back of the door that is inside the pocket goes down. I know it can't go down because the roller is in a track. I can grab it towards the top of the door and open/close it easily. I really don't see/feel anything wrong with the rollers.

This guy's problem seems worse than yours but might be similar until you can get visual evidence

Some general tips

A theory not yet found posted would be some new foreign object located deep & on floor that causes the effect you describe.

Be sure to post the actual solution for us when known?

Lol! Mine is not near that bad, but the fact that my door acts like that seems reasonable. That is the only logical solution that makes sense! Thank you sir!
