I'm attempting to remove a sweat on valve (because the corrugated pipe directly connected to it kinked and developed a leak) and replace it with a new valve.
I've done this before on 3 other valves of the same type by using a propane torch to sweat off the valve and twist it off.
Unfortunately in this case, I've got a tiny drip still coming out the pipe (3 drips a second or so, after 4 hours of everything off). I'm guessing the small amount of water is preventing the torch from warming enough the pipe/valve to melt the solder to remove it.
I've opened every other valve inside and outside the house (including removing the hoses from the washing machine) but there's still a tiny drip going, and the valve is not budging while trying to twist it off under the torch's heat. I'm confident the water main valve is completely shut, as the meter isn't spinning a bit.
I hate to cut off the valve, as there's not a ton of room to put on a new one.
Would appreciate any other ideas if you have them.
