Removing Sweat On Valve

I'm attempting to remove a sweat on valve (because the corrugated pipe directly connected to it kinked and developed a leak) and replace it with a new valve.

I've done this before on 3 other valves of the same type by using a propane torch to sweat off the valve and twist it off.

Unfortunately in this case, I've got a tiny drip still coming out the pipe (3 drips a second or so, after 4 hours of everything off). I'm guessing the small amount of water is preventing the torch from warming enough the pipe/valve to melt the solder to remove it.

I've opened every other valve inside and outside the house (including removing the hoses from the washing machine) but there's still a tiny drip going, and the valve is not budging while trying to twist it off under the torch's heat. I'm confident the water main valve is completely shut, as the meter isn't spinning a bit.

I hate to cut off the valve, as there's not a ton of room to put on a new one.

Would appreciate any other ideas if you have them.

My grandfather once told me to shove some white bread up the pipe in cases like that. Your mileage may vary.

If you can't get it hot enough to turn loose, hacksaw it right up against the valve, and then install a compression fitting valve. Looks like you have plenty of room for that.

What kind of torch are you using? Blue bottle or yellow bottle? A mapp torch is my preference to all things solder. A little water isn't going to matter.

I think you aren't getting ALL of it hot enough.

Cut it off. You have plenty of room for a compression stop.

Blue. Which has worked fine for me in the past, but didn't have the drip then either.

Shove a rag, or another said bread, up there. You won't need long. Blue does burn cooler than yellow.

There's plenty of room to cut and sweat a new valve, just get a good barrier to protect the wall. Wet cardboard will work.

With water turned off disconnect at water meter, let it drip at the street end, at least that is what every plumber I have seen changing one out did.
