Doing a kitchen remodel and we want hardwired under cabinet lighting.

Anybody know anything cool out there…colors, timers, etc…

My wife saw this, but I figured y'all would know best.

Those LEDs are super over priced. I've been running these for the last 2 years with no issues. They're super bright

If you think you might ever get into home automation, I'd go a bit deeper. This controller will let you manage the LEDs through the Hue app. That lets you set up scenes, tune the white/color leds, create routines, etc.

You'll also need a power supply: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073QTNF9F

I have my control box wired to a half hot outlet above the microwave. Microwave is dedicated always hot. Controller is on my kitchen outlet circuit with a dedicated light switch. That lets me restart the controller pretty easily or if I move, someone else can use the LEDs as normal under cabinet lights without any automation

Did you install this yourself? Setup sounds similar to my kitchen so I'd be curious how difficult it was to do on your own.

If you have the electric already there, add a continuous power strip and do away with all the outlets on your backsplash. It's a clean look and you can plug whatever wherever on the counter.

I just did phillips hue lightstrips under all mine. Plenty of light and you can change colors, set scenes, etc

For lights and things that I'm adding new, I'm going to lean heavily towards matter and thread support - assuming you want it smart. Things are too close now IMO to go another route and it's annoying to be sandboxed into a platform.

I did my whole kitchen renovation myself. Install was easy but I already had the kitchen gutted down to the studs. I basically have 3 wire runs. Left of sink, right of sink, oven. They all converge in the above microwave cabinet in a LV box. If I ever want to upgrade controllers or remove it entirely, it's super easy.

Our builder used tape lights on our new build. After moving in, we noticed they wont dim. No big deal but just something to check out on whatever ones you are using.

Cob lights like in the link. Continuous lighting, easy to cut/splice. Plug into a smart plug (typically have an outlet in the cabinet above the fridge) and it makes it easy to control.

Used WAC Lighting BA-AC line recently on a kitchen. Hardwired, on/off at each light or at a wall switch. Two choices of color 2700 or 3000 I believe. From $40-60 or so per unit depending on size....4 sizes I think? Piece of cake to order, install, etc.

Are people here still using InspiredLED.com? I recently had them design and quote me for mine, was about to pull the trigger on it all.

This is who I used for our under-cabinet lighting on our remodel ~3-4 years ago. With as fast as LEDs are advancing, I'm assuming what I installed is likely obsolete, but I'm also sure that InspiredLED likely offers whatever you could want. I had an excellent experience with them and would definitely use them again.
