I decided to paint my office. I've said time and time again I'll never paint anything again but here I am. I am painting over white paint with a dark green semi gloss. It looks like a terrible mess... brush streaks, globs, inconsistency. Any tips? The trim has ridges so I'm not sure a roller will work but it looks awful and I'm close to calling a professional.

What brand/type of paint did you use? What kind of brush did you use? And did you add floetrol to the paint?

It's old-school... Last time I did any signifigant painting I went with oil base on the trim. It stinks and cleanup is a B, but I don't get brush strokes left behind.

At this point you'll probably have to lightly sand the trim to remove the brush strokes and the globs, wipe with alcohol, prime with Kilz, sand again, then paint.

Good thing you've got a long holiday weekend!

This is the best alternative to oil-based paint for trim that I've found. I've used it many times and I never get brush marks

And yes, spend the money on a good brush. They do matter.

This. I used ProClassic for all the trim in our house on our remodel and didn't have any issues. I will continue to use it on any trim-type work as there's no need to mess with oil-based anymore.

Brush matters quite a bit. You want a 2-2.5" angled most likely.

As others have said: the water based ProClassic Enamel Trim is great stuff. It's a bit thin for the purpose of leveling out any brush strokes. It's benefits from having a wet edge.

I've also brushed insl-x cabinetCoat but it's not as forgiving as ProClassic.
