I set down a hot plate on our back porch metal table and it left a white heat stain. Is there a way to remove the heat stain?

I know the actually paint finish isn't removed because when wipe the table with a wet cloth the stain goes away until the table drys.

Maybe start with a quick wipe of mineral spirits, fairly light duty, shouldn't hurt anything.
If no, next go to a wax wiping on/off with a soft cloth.
If still not successful, try applying wax with a steel wool or other type of light abrasive pad?
Last would be car compound...

A heat mark is usually a chemical change in the material it damages. I didn't think it wiped off. Probably repaint?
