I've stalled and repaired my pentair cleaner but it's just time

Have the standard 3/4 hp pump
Only 1 year old.

I dont want pentair kreepy krauler again.

Whats beat suggestion, product, price where to buy?

Looking at the polaris 280 360 or 380
On amazon

Or going with higher version p39 on ebay in 700s range. Pentair has a kreepy krauly platinum

I hated my hose it always got tangled despite replacing swivels and other things.

All thoughts would be great. I need to buy asap

Aren't those all electronic vs booster pump cleaners?

Yes. Do it and don't look back. We finally ditched the side boosted Polaris last spring and upgraded to the robot and can't believe I held out as long as I did.

I bought a Dolphin cleaner last year from the same company in Colorado after replacing two Hayward cleaners in two years. I'm very impressed. It's cheaper than the Hayward and is easy to use and does a better job cleaning.

Polaris Quattro sport uses pump, but looks like robot.

Polaris Epic 8642 iQ. Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connection, climbs the walls to scrub the tile and self contained. Friend talked me into this after I was complaining about the bag on my polaris coming off.

It's probably comparable to the dolphin.

This is a good option if you still have/recently replaced your pump (sounds like you did). It'll crawl up like the robotic ones but is still a pressure cleaner

I would recommend the Polaris 280. Yes, they are designed to fail with plastic parts. But, you can find the rebuild kits on Amazon pretty cheap and they are easy to work on. I like their simple design, and, if adjusted properly, mine cleans the entire pool in 1hr.

Love my Dolphin I got from them based on recs from this forum.

My only complaint is that I have had to ship it twice back to Maytronics for a repair. It was super speedy turn around but there's no authorized repair shop in Dallas for warranty repair any more.

Bump.

Ditching my suction side cleaner for good. Looking at a robot. About 35X16 pool. Deepest is 5.5 ft. Just entry steps and one bench.

We have a decent amount of leaves at times so need something that can handle quantity of leaves. I know I will have to empty etc just want it to have enough power and capacity.

Also…anyone done a cordless? I would be willing to pay a premium for one but not sure how strong or reliable.

Good discussion on the new Aiper cordless robot on TFP. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/aiper-has-some-new-robots.267096/

I bought a cheapie Aiper Seagull SE cordless and it's worked well for me. It won't pick up huge leaves, but handles random pecan and live oak leaves just fine.

I assume you have to pull it out to recharge every time? Seem like a deal killer to me. I'm lazy and leave my dolphin in the pool mostly all the time. Don't feel the cord is really that big of a deal,i just pull it out in the summer when using the pool.

As to the op type questions. I am on my third (and last possible) warranty replacement refurbished unit. I have the active 20 basic model. The original unit worked really well cleaningwise for about a year and a half. Only issue was a tolerance thing with a plastic bushing on the drive track that would make it stop working. Figured out diy fixes. When it finally had a motor failure I went through 2 refurbished units in a few months.

This final one has continued to run, but it cleans very poorly. Never manages to actually fill the basket. My original would pick up leaves pretty well. This one does not.

I am conflicted. I expect I will replace it this year during the swim season. I typically like to get the higher end versions of things like this. But part of me feels like these are so cheaply made, there is no way they will last much more than the 2 year warranty time. So does buying the basic model and just replacing when out of warranty make sense, or are the higher end version actually better made?

Even with that conflict, I am sold on the concept and would recommend.

You do have to pull and recharge daily, but it's not a big deal. I'm a big TFP nerd and check chemical levels regularly. I can just drop it in the pool on my way out the door in the morning and grab it out when I'm farting around with testing the water after work. There's a little discipline involved, but that's part of the fun of owning a pool and it's a good excuse to grab a beer and wind down in the evenings.

So, our million dollar texags idea.

Make one that crawls out of the pool. Goes to a thin like my house vacuum robot, empties itself. Then dives back into clean the next day after recharging!

Part of what I don't like about suction side is always having something in pool. I will likely remove most weekends and just toss in the AM if need a quick cleaning before guests come over etc.

Like the idea of battery to not have to wrap up a cord each time but not sure I want to sacrifice cleaning granted I don't think the my suction got much first, just leaves.

Avoid the Smorobot Tank x11. It's a great idea, just poorly executed and they all fail within s couple months. I went with the Dolphin E70 afterward - it's ok, but gets stuck between the bar stools if I let it clean the sides and the cord is annoying. I need Roomba to make a pool cleaner.

Our pool has minimal obstacles. Pretty basic layout. That helps us out. Don't need a miracle machine. Don't even care about walls. Just want good leaf suction, clean dirt from bottom, and easy to remove.

Emailed Marina and they recommended E70 due to size of motor for leaves etc.

I was not wanting to spending $1599 (pretax) on a robot.

Curious if anyone here that has decent amount of leaves find their robot struggles (clogs etc). I know I will need to clean the basket regularly during certain seasons but I did that with my suction side too.

Was hoping to find one I like for closer to $1K.

I get a decent amount of leaves (plumeria, peach and crepe myrtle) and gravel in my pool, and my Pentair Warrior SE does a great job of keeping it clean. The Pentair Warrior is equivalent to the Dolphin S200 or the Explorer E30 The E70 has a lot of extra bells and whistles that aren't really worth the added cost (in my opinion). Marina Pool and Spa has the Pentair Warrior for $859 and which is probably your best bang for your buck. If I remember correctly, there is no tax or shipping when you order from Marina. Also, they have been helpful on various warranty issues.

Thanks for that. I maybe over-sold my leaf issue to them. We do have several trees (oaks, etc) in the front and back + those leaves that come from neighbors....we have a weekly pool service + I run out with a net as much as possible....maybe can get away w/o the most powerful version....
