Replace hardie board siding

We need to replace a single piece of our siding and have no idea where to go to try and match the piece. The house was built in the early 80's and I assume that it is original. In the Austin area.

Any suggestions?

Can you post a picture ?
Hardi wasn't around in the 80's
Is it horizontal siding ? 12 inch ?
Or a 4x8 sheet?

You may have Masonite siding

Not certain, but it doesn't match what's above it. I'd probably replace it with LP SmartSide if I could find something reasonably close.

You need gutters as well or to fix your drainage issues, assuming that is your house. You likely have wood rot behind that siding.

I agree that the finished grade is way too high. Masonite hates moisture. If you replace any I suggest using an oil base primer before painting on any lower runs near the ground or sprinkler heads.

LP (Louisiana Pacific) makes a triple 4 siding to match your old siding. As mentioned, it should be available or be able to order it at McCoys. Our store in Bryan stocks it. Make sure it's LP or you'll wind up with the same issues, especially at the bottom row.
