Had an arborist come out this morning and look at our sick maple. He says it's root rot and is recommending a treatment (don't have a name, just something chemical to spray around the root area to try to nuke the cause).

I have read mixed things as to whether this is treatable or if we should just cut it down to prevent the possibility of it spreading.

Thanks in advance.

Specifically, it came back with phytopthoria root rot.

TIA
